Compliance platforms detect vulnerabilities. They don’t close them. The gap between detection and closure is where most audit exceptions live, and it’s the first pillar AttriEdge owns for clients. Here’s how we run it.

The detection-vs-closure gap

A platform scans your cloud, repos and endpoints and produces findings. What it doesn’t do is open a ticket, assign the right engineer, hold an SLA, verify the fix and capture the evidence. Findings sit marked “open” indefinitely; closure rates that look fine on a dashboard hide stale, unfixed issues. This is the heart of the compliance automation gap.

SLA standards (7/30/90 day model)

We run the industry-standard model: Critical within 7 days, High within 30, Medium within 90, Low next-cycle. Average mid-market closure runs 60–75% within SLA; the target is 95%+. The detailed SLA mechanics are in SLA tracking for SOC 2 vulnerability closure.

Workflow architecture: scanner → ticket → engineer → fix → evidence

The workflow runs weekly: scanner finding → ticket auto-created in Jira/Linear with a severity-based SLA → owner-tagged to the responsible engineer → fix (commit, redeploy) → rescan confirming closure → evidence linked back to the GRC platform. Every step produces an artifact.

Jira/Linear integration patterns

The connective tissue is automation rules: map scanner severity to ticket priority and SLA, route by service ownership, escalate on SLA breach and sync closure status back. The concrete build is in the Tenable + Jira + Vanta workflow.

Evidence chain and audit defensibility

For each remediated finding we retain: detection timestamp, owner, the fix evidence and the rescan result, a defensible chain, not a screenshot. Auditors increasingly reject screenshot-only evidence; see why auditors are rejecting screenshot evidence.

Tooling landscape

Scanners: Tenable, Qualys, Snyk, AWS Inspector. Ticketing: Jira, Linear. Evidence: Vanta/Drata. The common, well-worn pattern is Snyk + Jira + Vanta, glued by automation rules and a weekly operating cadence.

Where AttriEdge fits

Owning this workflow end-to-end, ingestion, SLA tracking, owner attribution, verification, evidence, is core to the Active Retainer. The diagnostic measures your current closure rate against the 95% target and shows the gaps.
